In an armed attack on a recycling company in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun, a leak occurred from chemical storage tanks hit by bullets. Six police officers who were mildly affected were discharged, while the attacker was caught.
A chemical leak occurred at a workplace in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun after an armed attack.
BULLETS HIT CHEMICAL STORAGE UNITS
A recycling company operating in the 19 Mayıs Industrial Site in the district was fired upon multiple times with a gun by U.G. from another workplace. The bullets hit four 1-ton tanks filled with chemical solvent-thinner mixture at the recycling company. Chemical substances began to flow into the workplace from the punctured tanks.
Upon notification, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Samsun Metropolitan Municipality fire department, and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
6 POLICE OFFICERS AFFECTED BY THE LEAK
AFAD and police teams took security measures in the area. During this time, 6 police officers mildly affected by the chemical leak were taken to a hospital and discharged after treatment. AFAD, fire department, and police teams are continuing their work in the area. After the incident, U.G., who left the area by vehicle, was apprehended by police teams in the Canik district.
Meanwhile, it was alleged that the incident occurred due to a property owner-tenant dispute.
