Düzce Municipality cleaning staff member Fatih Cesur, during his morning routine, found a bag on the roadside containing gold, cash, and bank cards worth approximately 3.5 million TL and handed it over to the police without hesitation. Exhibiting exemplary citizenship, Cesur stated, "We did what we had to do," while police teams launched efforts to locate the bag's owner.
Fatih Cesur, a staff member of the Düzce Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate, found a bag on the roadside while cleaning in the Konuralp Çiftepınarlar neighborhood in the morning hours.
HE HANDED OVER THE BAG FULL OF GOLD WORTH 3.5 MILLION TL TO THE POLICE
When Cesur checked the bag, he noticed it contained a large amount of gold, bank cards, and cash, and reported the situation to his supervisors. Cesur then handed over the bag, which contained 400 grams of gold bullion worth 3.5 million TL, 17 grams of gold, 14 quarter gold coins, 7 bracelets, 2 Ottoman medals, 998 TL, and 3 bank cards, to the police to find its owner.
“WE DID WHAT WE HAD TO DO”
Cleaning staff member Fatih Cesur described his experience, saying, “I was carrying out routine cleaning work. The bag on the roadside caught my attention. I looked inside and saw it was gold. I immediately informed my shift supervisor. He called the police teams. I did it for the sake of Allah as a normal citizen duty. If we hadn't found it, someone else might have used it with bad intentions or thrown it away. We did what we had to do.”
Police teams have initiated efforts to find and return the owner of the gold-filled bag.
