Missing young person found dead in Izmir: Left farewell message on social media

E.K., a 31-year-old reported missing in Izmir, was found dead in a forested area in Buca following search efforts by police and AFAD teams using phone signal tracking and sniffer dogs. It was revealed that the young man, whose death is suspected to be a suicide, had shared a resentful farewell message on his social media account days before disappearing, saying, 'I will do something that will be a big surprise for all of you. I didn't deserve this.'

In the Menderes district of Izmir, 31-year-old E.K., for whom a missing person report had been filed, was found dead in a forested area in Buca as a result of search efforts conducted by police and AFAD teams with tracking dogs. It was revealed that the young man, who is believed to have ended his life, had shared a shocking farewell message containing a grievance about justice on his social media account days before the incident.

PHONE SIGNAL TRACKED: AFAD AND TRACKING DOGS MOBILIZED

According to the information obtained, a missing person report for E.K. was filed on July 1 at the Menderes District Police Department. In the technical investigation launched by the Izmir Provincial Police Department's Missing Persons Bureau, it was determined that the young man's mobile phone line last gave a signal in the vicinity of Kuruçeşme Neighborhood in Buca district. As a result of meticulous efforts conducted by AFAD teams and tracking dogs deployed to the area, E.K.'s lifeless body was reached in the forested area of Zafer Neighborhood.

In the incident, where police teams are focusing on the possibility of suicide, it was determined that the deceased E.K. had published a farewell message filled with reproachful expressions on his social media account 6 days before the event. In the young man's post, it was seen that he wrote: "I have seen what I was meant to see and lived what I was meant to live in this world. This world is not worth living... I will do something that will be a surprise to you all. And it will be a very big surprise. I did not deserve any of what I experienced. Even if justice falters in this world, everything will be just in the other world." 

E.K.'s body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy, while a multi-faceted investigation into the incident continues.
