The first poll result regarding Çerçioğlu, who has drawn great criticism from the opposition, has emerged. In a poll conducted by AREA Research between August 22-24, 2025, in 26 provinces, participants were asked whether they found Çerçioğlu's resignation from CHP and joining the AK Party to be correct.
THE RATE OF SUPPORTERS IS 31.2 PERCENT
While 60.8% of the participants expressed that they found this transition to be wrong, the rate of those who found her joining the AK Party to be correct was 31.2%. In the poll results shared by Nefes Newspaper writer Aytunç Erkin, the rate of those who did not express an opinion was 8%.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Özlem Çerçioğlu, the Mayor of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, who resigned from CHP, joined the AK Party with a badge personally pinned by President Erdoğan at the 24th Anniversary Program. During the ceremony held on Thursday, August 14, Çerçioğlu and 8 other mayors joined the AK Party.
Speaking at the program, Çerçioğlu promised to serve Aydın even more under the auspices of President Erdoğan, stating, "If there are any allegations against me today, let them come forward and explain. I have never been afraid of the judiciary or being judged. My conscience is clear, and my head is held high. I do not find it appropriate from a political ethics perspective to explain the problems I have faced here. However, if necessary, I can explain them one by one.
My only concern is to serve my country and Aydın. From now on, I will continue to serve under the roof of the AK Party with you and under the auspices of my esteemed President.
