Following the Metina region in northern Iraq, the process has accelerated to clear the terrorist hideouts along the Gara and Hakurk fronts. While caves are planned to be destroyed under MİT supervision and the terrorists are to be gathered in Kandil, the option that has come to the fore is sending the organization’s ringleaders, whom the Iraqi administration does not accept, to third countries under Turkey’s supervision.

After the evacuation of the Metina region, one of the most important logistics centers of the terrorist organization PKK, it was now the turn of the shelter areas along the Gara and Hakurk line. Security sources reported that the caves along the entire route extending to Kandil will be gradually destroyed and that the process is targeted for completion by January.

According to a report in Türkiye newspaper, in the operations carried out, the ‘criminological records’ of weapons in shelter areas and logistics centers are first compiled. Weapons, ammunition, explosives, drones, paramotors and satellite radios are listed by MİT and then destroyed. The caves, some of which even contain a hospital, are blown up and cleared under MİT supervision and in coordination with the Northern Iraq administration so that they can never be used again.

THE FINAL STOP IS PLANNED TO BE KANDIL

Kandil was designated as the gathering point so that members of the organization do not remain scattered. It was noted that after the destruction of the caves, the groups withdrawn to Kandil will be listed and sent to Turkey. Security sources reported that it will be determined how many people will come and how, and that entries will be monitored through special desks to be set up at consulates and customs.

"THIRD COUNTRY" FORMULA FOR THE RINGLEADERS

Following the National Security Council's (MGK) confirmation of disarmament, the third-country option gained weight for the organization's ringleaders, who are excluded from legal regulations providing sentence reductions. After the Iraqi administration stated that it does not want the organization's managers on its territory, the issue of sending these individuals, who will not be able to come to Turkey, to third countries under Turkey's supervision came onto the agenda.

THE FIRST GROUP MAY COME FROM SINJAR

Meanwhile, the process of clearing Sinjar of terrorism is being carried out under the supervision of the Iraqi government. Sources, who reported that Turkey would evacuate the Bashiqa base if the region is cleared, assess that the first group to come to Turkey along with the return of civilians could be from Sinjar.

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS ABOUT ÖCALAN

Security sources, who also provided information about the situation of terrorist organization ringleader Abdullah Öcalan in the process, emphasized that Öcalan will not be given an official duty or a status such as the "Presidency of the Disarmament and Peace Council." The sources, stating that Öcalan is only involved in the process of the organization's dissolution, denied the claims that a villa was built on İmralı and reported that he is staying in the existing two-room section with a workspace.
