A decision of non-prosecution was made in the investigation against comedian Hasan Can Kaya for the allegation of "publicly insulting the religious values embraced by a segment of the people." The investigation was initiated due to a dialogue in Kaya's program "Konuşanlar."
On November 17, 2025, an investigation was launched following a report regarding comedian Hasan Can Kaya's statement on the "Konuşanlar" program, where he said, "If Jesus Christ had benefited from EYT." A decision of non-prosecution was made in the ongoing investigation.
HE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO INTENT
According to journalist Mustafa Kadir Mercan's report; Hasan Can Kaya stated in his testimony that the words developed spontaneously, that he had no specific intent to insult religious values, that the images were taken out of context, and that he published an apology message due to the misunderstanding.
The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office decided not to prosecute on the grounds that "the legal elements of the crime were not present" as a result of the investigation.
HE HAD PUBLISHED AN APOLOGY MESSAGE
When the images became a topic on social media, Hasan Can Kaya had published a statement. In his statement, Kaya used the following expressions: I am saddened to follow the discussions on social media regarding the joke where I compared one of our guests who participated in Konuşanlar two years ago to Jesus Christ. I want to emphasize that the joke made and the expressions I used were in no way intended to mock any belief or sacred value. Respect for all beliefs, values, and opinions is the fundamental principle of myself, our team, and our program. I express to the public that I will show the necessary care to prevent a similar misunderstanding from happening again and that we will evaluate our broadcast content more carefully in this regard, and I sincerely apologize for the discomfort caused by the incident in question.
