Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been arrested as part of a corruption investigation. Initial information from the courthouse indicated that a judicial control decision had been issued for İmamoğlu in relation to a terrorism investigation. It was learned that the committee had convened for a decision, but no ruling had yet been made regarding the "terrorism" investigation. With this development, the possibility of appointing a trustee to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is still on the agenda.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting investigations against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 suspects for the crimes of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "extortion," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." Additionally, investigations have been initiated against İmamoğlu, IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and 7 other suspects for the crime of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."

After their procedures at the police station, some suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, where their proceedings at the duty magistrate's court were completed. The court ruled for the arrest of IMM President İmamoğlu.
