A fairy chimney collapsed at the entrance of the Cappadocia Göreme Open Air Museum in Nevşehir. During the collapse, a dense cloud of dust covered the surroundings, while initial footage showed one person trapped under the collapsed rock. Health and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area.
At the entrance of the Göreme Open Air Museum, located in Cappadocia, Nevşehir's world-famous tourism center, a fairy chimney collapsed for a reason not yet determined, and a dense cloud of dust covered the surrounding area.
ONE PERSON WAS TRAPPED UNDER THE ROCKFALL
In the first footage from the scene, one person was seen trapped under the collapsed rock. Upon notification, medical and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area.
2 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök announced in his statement that 2 people lost their lives. In his statement, Governor Kök used the following expressions:
"As a result of the landslide, we reached the bodies of 2 people due to the rockfall. Search and rescue work is being carried out at the scene."
