"CONFIRMATION OF SYRIA'S LEGITIMACY"
Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Hasan Sheybani raised the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic at the ceremony. Sheybani described this moment as "a confirmation of Syria's legitimacy and diplomatic presence in the international arena." Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Sheybani emphasized the pains of the 14-year civil war, stating, "Of course, this is a historic moment."
"YOU CAN SMELL FREEDOM"
Raghad Bushnaq, a resident of the USA since 1989, described the ceremony as "unimaginable." Bushnaq stated, "The last time I was here, people were covering their faces. Now we are here, we are happy. You can smell the freedom in Syria," she expressed. Bushnaq also thanked Turkey and all the countries that supported them.
"A NEW PAGE"
Ameer Alsamman, an American publisher of Syrian descent, also regarded today as "the beginning of a new page in US-Syria relations." Alsamman called for the lifting of sanctions, stating, "I hope that Damascus and Washington will establish much better relations. I think this is a sign that things are going in the right direction."
