Heavy rainfall in Rize has caused flooding. The bridge in the Şenyamaç village area collapsed due to rising water levels. Those trapped in their homes in Tunca, a district of Ardeşen, were rescued with the help of heavy machinery. The road to Ayder Plateau in Çamlıhemşin has been closed to traffic due to landslides. A total of 269 personnel and 80 vehicles are engaged in flood relief efforts in the field.

As a result of the landslides, some roads in the city were closed to traffic. Due to the landslide, transportation on the road to Ayder Plateau in Çamlıhemşin district is not possible. The bridge in the Şenyamaç village area on the Ardeşen-Çamlıhemşin highway collapsed due to rising water levels, and gendarmerie teams took security measures in the area. Ali Navdar, the owner of the business in Şenyamaç village, stated in a press release that the rainfall increased its effect during the night.
"THE BRIDGE COLLAPSED WITH A LOUD NOISE"
Navdar mentioned that the gendarmerie and AFAD closed the bridge due to the risk of collapse, saying, "We saw the bridge collapse with a loud noise around 4:00 AM. There were no casualties. At that moment, no one was on the bridge. AFAD and the gendarmerie closed the bridge with a security cordon. The bridge collapsed after the security cordon was removed." he said.
5 PEOPLE TRAPPED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WERE RESCUED
In a written statement from the Rize Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), it was reported that the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was measured at 161.8 millimeters in the Çağrankaya Plateau of İkizdere district. Following the rainfall, it was reported that 5 people were trapped in a traffic accident in the Kayabaşı village of Kalkandere district, and AFAD, 112 Emergency Health, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area. It was noted that the teams managed to rescue the 5 individuals who were injured.
THEY SOUGHT SHELTER IN HOUSES AND FACILITIES
It was reported that 9 people traveling in their vehicles in the Deremezra village of Ardeşen district and Tunca town sought shelter in a house and a facility as they were about to be swept away by floodwaters, and these individuals were evacuated by teams upon notification. Due to the water levels of the rivers in Fındıklı district reaching critical levels, it was shared that 15 families were evacuated as a precaution.
269 PERSONNEL AND 80 VEHICLES ARE ON DUTY IN THE FIELD
It was stated that a partial landslide occurred on the İkizdere-Ovit Tunnel road and it was opened to traffic, and "The İyidere-İkizdere-İspir road is closed to traffic in the Kayabaşı area towards İkizdere. The Çamlıhemşin-Ayder Plateau road is closed to traffic." was expressed.
In the statement, it was noted that 269 personnel and 80 vehicles from AFAD, 112 Emergency Health, highways, DSI, fire brigade, gendarmerie, police, Provincial Special Administration, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations are on duty in the field.
On the other hand, the adverse effects caused by the rainfall were reflected in mobile phone cameras. The rainfall continues intermittently throughout the province.
75 KG OF RAINFALL IN 24 HOURS
According to information obtained from the Rize Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, while more than 75 kg of rainfall fell in many points of Rize in the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded at 161 kg in the Çağrankaya Plateau of İkizdere district. Following that, the highest rainfall was recorded in Güneysu-Handüzü Plateau with 132.9 kg and Andon with 127 kg.
