Kuşakkaya village, built after the 1970 landslide in Adıyaman, is one of Turkey's extraordinary rural settlements with its circular layout. Consisting of 82 disaster houses, the village attracts travelers and photographers with its unique architecture.

Adıyaman's Kuşakkaya village, built after a landslide 56 years ago, draws attention with its circular settlement plan.

Kuşakkaya village, affiliated with the Adıyaman city center, was moved to a new area after the landslide in 1970 made the old settlement area risky. As part of the post-disaster project, construction of the village began in 1973, and it was designed with an unusual circular plan.

HUB FOR TRAVELERS

Construction of 82 disaster houses, as part of the work the villagers call the "Selanik Project," was completed in 1982 and handed over to the rightful owners. Despite the years that have passed, the village has preserved its original architectural structure and has become one of the frequent destinations for travelers, photography artists, and drone enthusiasts in recent years.

HOUSES LINED IN A RING AROUND THE CENTER

While common use areas are located in the middle of the village, the houses are lined in a ring around this center. With a distinct silhouette thanks to its planned structure, the village stands out as a unique example among rural settlements in Turkey.

"A FIRST IN TURKEY"

Hasari Oğuz, the headman of Kuşakkaya Village, said, "After the landslide, our state built us a new village here. They call this round village the Selanik Project. It is a first and exemplary village in Turkey. 82 houses were built at that time. The circular design is very beautiful."
