FISHING BOAT SANK According to the information obtained, a boat sank for an undetermined reason off the coast of Bakla Burnu in the village of Güneyli. One person on the boat managed to swim to shore. The person who reached the shore reported the situation to the 112 emergency services. Upon the notification, gendarmerie, Coast Guard, and health teams were dispatched to the area.
3 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES During the investigations conducted by the teams in the area, the lifeless bodies of Ayhan Yavaş and Ayhan Yaldızlı were found washed ashore. The lifeless body of the missing Salih Kocaman was found next to the boat at a depth of 10 meters.
FISHERMEN SAVED AT THE LAST MOMENT The 'Yılmazlar-5' trawler, which was sailing in the area, noticed a person struggling on the surface of the water. The captain of the trawler, Halil Can Çiftçi, reported the situation to the Çanakkale Strait Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) via radio. The person on board, Samuil İlqaroğlu (25), a citizen of Azerbaijan, was taken onto the boat. He was then transferred to the Coast Guard boat and brought to Kepez Port, where he was handed over to the 112 Emergency Health teams. After the initial interventions, Samuil İlqaroğlu was referred to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Çanakkale State Hospital. It was learned that İlqaroğlu's health condition is good.
The captain of the Yılmazlar-5 boat, Halil Can Çiftçi, said, "We set out to fish with the boat in Çanakkale. We were heading to the fishing ground off Güzelyalı. While we were going along the sector line, we noticed someone struggling on our starboard side. At first, we thought it was a fish. Then we stopped there and picked the person up. After taking him on board, we changed his clothes. Then we handed him over to the Coast Guard," he said.
