The Hacıbektaş Horasan Erenleri Dergahı Cemevi Complex, donated to the Horasan Erenleri Associations Federation by MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, is opening today. The complex, which stands out as the largest cemevi project in the world with its physical structure and capacity, reflects the architectural elements of Alevi belief and culture.
THE LARGEST CEMEVİ PROJECT IN THE WORLD
Following MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's donation of land in Hacıbektaş, Nevşehir to the Horasan Erenleri Associations Federation, the construction of the Hacıbektaş Horasan Erenleri Dergahı Cemevi Complex has begun, and it is officially opening today with a ceremony. Built on an area of approximately 6,000 square meters, the complex is both the largest cemevi project in Turkey and in the world physically.
ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS REFLECTING ALEVİ TRADITION
The architecture of the complex carefully incorporates the fundamental elements of the Alevi belief system. The building, consisting of three floors (basement, ground, and first floor), features a prayer hall designed with a swallow motif, constructed to represent the 7 layers of the sky. The cemevi has four doors — sharia, tariqat, marifat, and hakikat — and contains 40 stations. Each arch is adjusted according to these stations. The ceiling of the prayer hall is covered with a 12-cornered dome, creating a symbolism representing the 12 imams. Additionally, the figures of eternal fire and water are included in the hall as symbolic elements of the Alevi-Bektaşi teaching.
FACILITY WITH LARGE CAPACITY
The complex includes a spacious prayer hall of 307 square meters, a closed parking lot for 50 vehicles and an open parking lot for 15 vehicles, a multi-purpose meeting room for 160 people, a foyer area, a dede room, a conversation room, a dining hall, an industrial kitchen, a sacrificial slaughter area, a mortuary, and a guesthouse. Additionally, there are 22 guest rooms with a capacity of 50 beds and 2 workshops. The furniture and interior design work in the second phase of the complex is planned to be completed within two months.
BAHÇELİ'S ATTENDANCE IS UNCERTAIN
There are various claims regarding whether MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli will attend the opening ceremony of the complex... While some media outlets state that Bahçeli will attend the opening, other sources suggest that "to avoid creating political controversy and casting a shadow," Bahçeli will not be present at the ceremony.
SOME ALEVİ ASSOCIATIONS ARE REACTING
Before the opening, which will emphasize unity and togetherness, some Alevi associations have expressed their reactions. The Alevi Bektaşi Federation (ABF), the European Alevi Confederation (AABK), the Australian Alevi Federation (AFA), the Turkish Alevi Federation (ADFE), the Alevi Culture Associations (AKD), the Hacı Bektaş Veli Anatolian Culture Foundation (HBVAKV), the Pir Sultan Abdal Culture Associations (PSAKD), have released a statement regarding the 'Cemevi Complex' that is being constructed by the MHP and is set to open in Hacıbektaş on October 11.
"THIS IS AN ASSIMILATION PROJECT"
In the statement, it was said, "The Alevi community will not consent to this structure. This is an assimilation project." It was claimed that the mentioned structure has no relation to the values of the Alevi community.
"I PRESENTED THE FIRST INVITATION TO OUR GENERAL CHAIRMAN"
On the other hand, MHP Deputy Chairman Yaşar Yıldırım stated in a recent announcement, "Our esteemed Chairman has been closely following the process, often saying 'Open it as soon as possible.' I presented the first invitation to our esteemed Chairman. He was very happy and pleased. Because a person buys land from somewhere 15 years ago, has such a project in mind. It is important to see this come to life. He was very happy and pleased in that regard," he expressed.
