A response has come to the claims that PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan obstructed the release of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş. Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party's Imralı delegation, stated that Öcalan opposed the imprisonment of Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ during the meeting.

Recently, regarding the claims that "Abdullah Öcalan blocked the release of Selahattin Demirtaş," Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, made statements.

Buldan referred to the last meeting that took place in İmralı on October 3, stating that the claims in question do not reflect the truth. "Neither today nor in the past has any negative word been said about Mr. Selahattin Demirtaş, as claimed. On the contrary, Mr. Öcalan expressed two meetings ago that it is unacceptable for Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ to still be detained," she stated.

Buldan also conveyed that Öcalan sent special greetings to Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ, saying, "After the meeting, we conveyed this greeting by calling their lawyers. These issues have never been on our agenda or Mr. Öcalan's agenda."

"RUMORS ARE THE PRODUCT OF THOSE WHO WANT TO CREATE CONFLICT"

Pervin Buldan argued that an attempt was being made to create tension between Öcalan and Demirtaş, using the following statements:

"Such statements are entirely the claims of circles that want to stir up trouble and aim to pit Mr. Öcalan and Demirtaş against each other. No one should give credence to such manipulations."

Buldan emphasized that Öcalan occasionally brings up the legal situations of detained politicians but has never made an assessment "based on opposition."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The Ministry of Justice requested the Grand Chamber to reconsider the decision made by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Second Chamber regarding former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş. The deadline for the application was October 8. The Ministry of Justice filed an appeal one day before the expiration of the three-month period required for the decision to become final.
