Two days ago in Aksaray, police stopped Yusuf K. (46), who was found to have a blood alcohol level of 2.47 promille during a check, and threatened to "call the governor." The police officers who processed him were awarded a certificate of achievement by Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu.
The incident occurred last Thursday evening near the Şehit Önder Güzel Police Vocational Training Center on Şehit Ali Er Street in the Aratol Bahçeli neighborhood. Police officers on duty stopped the vehicle with license plate 68 ADR 707, suspecting the driver. Upon realizing that driver Yusuf K. was under the influence of alcohol, traffic and public order police teams were called to the scene for a test. The driver refused to blow into the breathalyzer. At that moment, noticing that journalists were filming them, driver Yusuf K. and his companion Döne D. began to curse and attempted to attack.
THREATENING BY SAYING "MY DAD IS A JUDGE"
While the driver Yusuf K. threatened the police by saying, "I will call the governor," Döne D. tried to prevent the police from taking action by saying, "My dad is a judge." Yusuf K. and Döne D., who were taken into custody, were subjected to a health check at Aksaray Training and Research Hospital. During the examination, it was determined that Yusuf K. had a blood alcohol level of 2.47 promille. The investigation revealed that Yusuf K.'s driver's license was confiscated for the offense of "driving under the influence." This time, Yusuf K.'s driver's license was confiscated for 4 years, and he was fined 39,197 TL. After their procedures at the police station, Yusuf K. and Döne D. were referred to the courthouse today, where they were arrested by the magistrate's court for the crime of "resisting the execution of duty."
GOVERNOR KUMBUZOĞLU CONGRATULATES THE POLICE
After the incident, Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu visited the Aksaray Police Department and presented certificates of achievement to Police Chief Bekir Demir, Deputy Police Chiefs Zafer Öztürk, Ayhan Ataman Çelik, Public Order Branch Manager Serkan Özbaş, Traffic Registration and Inspection Branch Manager Gürsoy Yalvaç, and the police officers involved in the incident. In his speech, Governor Kumbuzoğlu stated, "Despite the resistance and ugly remarks shown to them in this incident, the patience and calm approach demonstrated by our teams is commendable. Policing is a very difficult task. They have to enforce laws and regulations while also maintaining their composure in turbulent and aggressive situations, which is truly challenging. I congratulate them for achieving this. I commend them for being an example to our Aksaray, which represents the essence of Anatolia, and to our country with their attitude," he said.
