One of Turkey's leading historians, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, passed away at the age of 78 at Koç University Hospital, where he was receiving treatment. The first farewell ceremony for Ortaylı was held at Galatasaray University.

Historian Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, who is considered one of the most important intellectuals produced by the country, passed away on March 14 at Koç University Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for a while. Ortaylı's death at the age of 78 caused great sorrow in the academic world and among his loved ones.

The first ceremony for Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı was held at Galatasaray University, where he taught for many years and trained numerous students. Ortaylı's students, colleagues, and many academics attended the ceremony. One of Ortaylı's closest friends, Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör, was also among those who attended the ceremony.
