The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement regarding the protests that began following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. In the statement, it was noted that 20 separate investigations are being conducted related to illegal meetings and demonstrations, and that legal action has been taken against 819 of the 829 identified suspects. Additionally, it was recorded that 278 of the suspects in the files are currently in custody, while 10 suspects are at large.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement regarding those who were detained and arrested during the protests that began after the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19, who was suspended from his duties.
20 SEPARATE INVESTIGATIONS, CASES AGAINST 819 SUSPECTS
In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that 20 separate investigations are being conducted regarding the illegal meetings and protest marches held in Istanbul. It was reported that cases have been filed against 819 of the 829 identified suspects in criminal courts of first instance.
278 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
The statement recorded that 278 of the suspects in the files are currently in custody. It was also noted that 10 suspects are at large.
"AS OF TODAY, THE PROCESSES FOR FILING PUBLIC CASES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED"
In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was recorded: "Following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and some individuals within the scope of financial and terrorism-related investigations, as a result of the investigations conducted through 20 separate investigation files regarding the illegal meetings and protest marches that took place in our city, public cases have been filed today against 819 individuals identified and processed from the 829 individuals. Of those against whom cases have been filed, 278 are currently in custody. 10 suspects are at large."
