As a result of the storm off the coast of Sicily this morning, the 55-meter luxury yacht Bayesian sank. One person lost their life in the incident, and search operations are ongoing for six people, including British and American tourists.
15 out of the 22 passengers were rescued by a nearby boat. Among the rescued are a one-year-old baby and their mother. It was reported that the majority of the passengers were British, and there were also tourists from different countries.
Helicopters, coast guard boats, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. Expert divers reached the boat hull at a depth of 49 meters. Eyewitnesses described how the tornado suddenly hit and the boat capsized rapidly.
Eight of the rescued individuals are receiving treatment at the hospital. The captain of the boat is also among the rescued and is said to be deeply saddened by the incident.
