The claim about July 15 that stirred the Turkish Grand National Assembly! Efkan Ala's response was quite harsh.

A discussion about July 15 took place in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir brought up the claim that AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala had spent 2 hours and 15 minutes in Georgian airspace on July 15. Ala responded, "If this claim is true, the person who did this is despicable, dishonorable, and shameless, or the person who says this is despicable, dishonorable, and shameless." Erol Mütercimler, who made the claim, had stated that after speaking with Efkan Ala, he agreed with him and said that the claim was not true.

During the ongoing budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, a "July 15 debate" occurred between CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir and AK Party Chairman Efkan Ala.

RENEWED THE CLAIM

After Ala's speech on the budget, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Emir brought up the "Georgia" claim regarding the July 15 coup attempt, which was initially raised by Erol Mütercimler and later retracted by him, admitting that the claim was incorrect.

CHP's Emir stated, "There is no account that our friends cannot provide. If you trust that ragged indictment, if you trust the nonexistent evidence, you can broadcast it on TRT, and the whole nation will see. But there is something called the presumption of innocence. Otherwise, of course, you can judge, but judge without detention. We want to be judged in independent courts. You won't establish new courts. If there is a decision you don't want, you disperse the court. But you are establishing a new court for Ekrem İmamoğlu's İBB case. Mr. Ala, if you believe so much in the presumption of innocence, someone will come and ask you, 'Did you fly in Georgian airspace for 2 hours and 15 minutes on July 15?'"

HARSH RESPONSE FROM EFKAN ALA

In response to Emir's claims, Efkan Ala, who requested the floor from the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, answered the allegations with very harsh words. Ala stated regarding the claims that he flew in Georgian airspace on the night of July 15 with a private plane, "If this claim is true, the one who did this is despicable, dishonest, and shameless, or the one who says this is despicable, dishonest, and shameless."

Ala used the following expressions in his response to CHP's Emir; "We took off from Erzurum Airport at 21:25 with a Turkish Airlines scheduled flight and landed at the airport in Ankara at 22:45. But we had no knowledge of the coup attempt. When we landed at the airport, our fellow deputies were there. After landing, around 23:00, we gave instructions to all units. At that moment, Hakan Fidan called me. We learned about the coup attempt from him. The doors of the plane had not even been opened yet. Then, by establishing a crisis center at the airport, I managed the entire process. Now I ask you this. Moreover, Georgia was the center of these; if someone is going to escape, they wouldn't escape there. If this claim is true, the one who did this is despicable, dishonest, and shameless, or the one who says this is despicable, dishonest, and shameless. Now let this situation end here. Does it suit you to tell the FETÖ lie?"

EROL MÜTERCİMLER HAD ALSO ADMITTED HE WAS WRONG

Erol Mütercimler, who first brought up the Georgia claim in 2017, had even admitted that it was not true. Mütercimler, in a television program he participated in on Meltem TV on October 13, 2017, stated that after Efkan Ala called him, he agreed with him and explained that the claim was not true. Mütercimler had acknowledged that he did not feel the need to verify the claim after it came from two AK Party deputies and admitted that he made a mistake in this regard.
