THEY HAD REACHED OUT TO WOMEN AND REQUESTED MEETINGS
According to the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation was launched on the suspicion that "the personnel of the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management delayed the international protection applications of foreigners, reached out to foreign women to request meetings, slowed down their processes, and that there were financial transactions with those who had transactions at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, as well as that interpreters associated with the institution demanded money from applicants to expedite their applications." As part of the investigation, Provincial Directorate of Migration Management Director Salih Soner Ç, employees Emre K. and Mesut A, interpreters Ahmed N. and Yahya G, case follower Qahtan G, real estate agent Süleyman Sezer Y., and tradesman Ali Basim Jawad B. were captured by the police.
8 PEOPLE DETAINED, 1 PERSON WANTED
The procedures for the 8 suspects detained on charges of "bribery," "extortion," "forgery in official documents," and "abuse of office" are ongoing. It was reported that efforts are continuing to capture Gökhan D., a personnel of the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, who is wanted.
PUBLIC OFFICIALS SUSPENDED FROM DUTY
In a statement made by the Yalova Governorship, it was noted that judicial proceedings have been initiated against 9 suspects, including public officials, in the operation carried out by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of "bribery," "extortion," "forgery in official documents," and "abuse of office."
The statement conveyed that "Considering the likelihood that the allegations against public officials are directly related to their duties, it has been decided to suspend the relevant public officials from duty in accordance with Articles 137 and following of the State Civil Servants Law No. 657 for the integrity of the investigation."
