With a circular sent to all 81 provinces under the signature of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, a dress code regulation was introduced ahead of the new academic year starting on September 14, 2026. Emphasizing the dignity of the teaching profession and the responsibility to set an example for students, a mandatory lab coat requirement was imposed on education administrators, teachers, and staff. It was stated that practices contrary to the legislation will not be permitted and that the process will be strictly monitored by provincial directorates of national education.
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin sent the directive prepared before the new academic year, which will start on September 14, 2026, to the national education directorates of 81 provinces. One of the most striking items in the directive was the dress code regulation for teachers. With the new term, teachers are required to wear lab coats at school.

TEACHERS WILL WEAR LAB COATS
The official directive sent to 81 provinces included the following instructions regarding the dress code: "Education institution administrators, teachers, and education employees will observe the dignity of the teaching profession, the responsibility of representation, and the quality of being an example to students while performing their duties; they will act in accordance with the solemnity of the profession, the seriousness of public service, and social sensitivities in their attire, and will wear lab coats."
NATIONAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATES WILL MONITOR THE IMPLEMENTATION
Within the scope of the directive, the necessary briefings on the subject will be carried out completely during the Teachers' Board meetings to be held before the new academic year starting on September 14, 2026. The process will be strictly monitored by provincial and district national education directorates. According to the published instruction, dress and behavior contrary to the legislation will definitely not be allowed.
