PATIENT HIT HER WHILE WORKING AT THE CARE CENTER Aysun Alpsoy (41), a mother of two living in Elazığ, had her nose broken 4 years ago when a patient hit her while she was working at the Eyşan Özgü Care Center. Subsequently, Alpsoy applied to plastic surgeon Dr. İ.B. upon the center's referral to repair the damage to her nose. Alpsoy underwent 3 operations at the doctor's own clinic and her final operation at Elazığ Medikal Hospital under general anesthesia. Alpsoy, who lay on the operating table to heal, had her life turned into a veritable nightmare.
According to the allegations, despite 4 operations performed over 4 years, Alpsoy's nose developed a tear and burn scar as well as a deformity. Alpsoy, who stated that she turns her face away out of shame and feels bad when talking to people, said she filed a complaint against the doctor and took the situation to court.
"A DIFFERENT NOSE EMERGED AFTER EACH OPERATION" Aysun Alpsoy, who stated that her nose was broken while working at the Eyşan Özgü Care Center 4 years ago, said, "I started experiencing these problems 4 years ago. After my nose was broken, I went to the doctor. He operated on my nose 4 times, but we could never get a successful result. A different nose emerged each time. Until my last nose surgery, there was cartilage erosion in my nose and my nose seemed dead. Finally, I was operated on at Elazığ Medikal Hospital. The next morning, when the doctor came and opened the bandage on my nose, one end of my nose was one shape and the other end was another shape. Also, the top of my nose was burned. The burn on my nose is a burn that will never heal for life. There is a burn on my nose, there are stitches, and also how a tear formed underneath. The holes in my nose are not proportionate. When I said these things, they told me to let them treat me again. After 4 operations, how can I trust you and come to you? I told the doctor, give me my money, let me go somewhere else and have the surgery, he didn't accept that either and said I will do it. This is the nose he made. For the first operation, I gave a full gold coin. For the second operation, again gold, for the third operation 7,000 TL, and finally, for the operation at Medikal Hospital, I paid 23 or 25 thousand lira," she said.
"I LITERALLY DROPPED OUT OF LIFE" The victim Alpsoy, stating that she is a tradesperson and is ashamed of her nose in front of people, said, "When someone looks at my face, I turn my face away out of shame and I don't want to talk. I feel very bad. I have literally dropped out of life. If I trusted the doctor, I would go again and say fix my nose and let me return to my life, but I don't trust the doctor. I know he won't be able to do it again. My nose was broken, but it wasn't a complete fracture; there was a crack. After I went to the doctor, I thought, if you can lift the front of your nose, and since I liked it, I'll do both together," she said.
"A PATIENT BROKE MY NOSE" Alpsoy, stating that other doctors do not accept her case, said, "Right now, because my nose is deformed, other doctors don't take it on. The reason I went to the same doctor 4 times is that other doctors don't accept it because they don't know what the procedure was. My nose was operated on 3 times at the doctor's own place under local anesthesia. The last time, it was done under general anesthesia at Medikal Hospital. I filed a complaint against the doctor. My lawyer contacted me and said the doctor did not accept the settlement. I told the doctor, 'I didn't want this to get to the media, give me my money whatever it is, let me fix my nose, and let both sides be at peace.' After all, you made my nose like this, not me, I said, and they didn't accept it. Since they didn't accept it, I filed a lawsuit. My nose was broken when a patient hit my nose with a sudden reflex during the break time when we were taking the patients out at the Eyşan Özgü Care Center," she said.
