A massive piece of space debris has fallen in a village in Kenya.

The Kenya Space Agency reported that investigations are ongoing regarding a metallic object weighing approximately 500 kilograms that fell in the village of Mukuku, located in the Makueni region.

In a statement from the agency, it was noted that the object, which has a diameter of 2.4 meters and weighs approximately 500 kilograms, fell from the sky to the village of Mukuku on Monday, December 30.

THOUGHT TO BE PART OF A ROCKET

It was stated that the object is believed to be part of a rocket and does not pose an immediate threat to safety. The statement indicated that the metallic object has been taken for examination, and "Preliminary assessments suggest that the fallen object is the separation ring of the launch vehicle (rocket)," was shared.

Police official Julius Rotich reported that when the agency team and local authorities arrived in the area on Monday, they found that the object was still hot and had recently fallen.
