U.S. President Donald Trump issued threats ahead of the second round of talks with Iran. Trump said, "A second aircraft carrier could go to Iran. Either we reach an agreement, or we will have to do very bad things."
U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized in an exclusive interview with Israeli journalist Barak Ravid that a military operation is a matter of time if the nuclear impasse with Iran is not resolved. Trump signaled that he is preparing to double the naval power in the region.
REINFORCEMENT FOR USS LINCOLN: SECOND AIRCRAFT CARRIER ON THE WAY
Trump announced that he is considering sending a second aircraft carrier strike group, additional warships, and jets to the region in addition to the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. "We have a fleet there, and maybe another one is on the way," Trump said, highlighting the scale of military fortifications.
"IRANIANS ARE SHOWING FLEXIBILITY"
Noting a significant change in the attitude of Iranian negotiators compared to the period before the 12-day war, Trump made a striking observation: "These are completely different people from the last time. In previous contacts, they did not believe I would attack them and took a big risk; however, now they are showing much more flexibility."
NETANYAHU AND TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT
Trump denied claims that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is uncomfortable with the negotiations, stating, "Netanyahu is not under pressure; he also wants a good deal." Trump also outlined the boundaries of a possible agreement:
No Nuclear Weapons: The nuclear issue is off the table as a matter for discussion.
End to Missile Program: The agreement will cover missile systems as well as nuclear warheads.
NEW ROUND NEXT WEEK
Expressing optimism about the course of the negotiations, the U.S. President stated that he believes the next round of talks with Tehran could begin as early as next week.
