With a presidential decree, the fund deduction applied to the export of table eggs has been increased from $0.5 to $1.5 per kilogram. The Ministry of Trade stated that this decision was made to eliminate the risks to food supply security and to ensure that citizens can consume eggs at reasonable prices.

There were concerns that prices in the domestic market could rise following the shipment of thousands of tons of eggs to the USA due to the avian influenza outbreak. These concerns were alleviated with the new regulation. The fund cut applied to table egg exports was increased from $0.5 to $1.5 per kilogram.

The Presidential Decision regarding the matter was published in the Official Gazette and came into effect. In a statement from the Ministry of Trade regarding the issue, it was emphasized that the aim is to ensure sustainable food supply in Turkey by eliminating the risks to food supply security and to meet domestic consumption at reasonable prices for citizens.

MEASURES AGAINST PRICE INCREASE

In this context, it was noted in the statement that with the regulation on February 25, 2025, a cut of 50 cents per kilogram was started to be applied to table egg exports. It was recorded that upon examining the situation following the date the relevant regulation came into effect, while the application had disinflationary effects, it was also observed that due to the ongoing external demand for domestically produced eggs, upward price movements continued. In order to contribute to price stability in table egg products and to facilitate access to the relevant product at reasonable prices for our citizens, the cut amount to be applied to table egg exports has been increased from $0.5 to $1.5 per kilogram by the Presidential Decision. In the upcoming period, we will continue strong cooperation and coordinated work with all relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. We will continue to resolutely utilize all policy and oversight tools within our mandate to protect food supply and security and to prevent any speculation that may arise in food markets.
