CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu visited Erdal Beşikçioğlu, the Mayor of Etimesgut Municipality who was arrested on August 3 and suspended from duty within the scope of a corruption and misconduct investigation, in Konya Ereğli Prison. The visit took place at a time when the results of the drug examination conducted on blood, urine, and hair samples, as well as the investigation against Beşikçioğlu, were reflected in the public.
CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu visited Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu at Konya Ereğli Prison, who was arrested and suspended from duty within the scope of the investigation into Etimesgut Municipality.
Kılıçdaroğlu's visit took place following the investigation conducted against Beşikçioğlu and the drug test results that recently came to the agenda.
HE WAS ARRESTED ON AUGUST 3
Kılıçdaroğlu came to the Ereğli district of Konya to meet with the detained Beşikçioğlu. No detailed statement has yet been made by the CHP regarding the content of the prison meeting. Beşikçioğlu was arrested on August 3 within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Etimesgut Municipality and was subsequently suspended from duty.
DRUG TEST CAME OUT POSITIVE
Within the scope of the investigation against Beşikçioğlu, blood, urine, and hair samples were taken. In the analyses conducted, it was reported that the test for cannabis in the samples came out positive. After the results were reflected in the public, the issue became one of the notable topics of the investigation.
It had come to the agenda that in a statement given by Beşikçioğlu in 2014, he admitted to having used cannabis in the past and said he would not use it again. However, no detailed statement has been made by official authorities regarding how the legal evaluation of the current test result in the investigation file will be conducted.
HE WAS ARRESTED IN CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION
The investigation that led to Beşikçioğlu's arrest is being conducted regarding certain transactions at Etimesgut Municipality. Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings were carried out against Beşikçioğlu along with many suspects. The accusations directed at Beşikçioğlu include allegations of bid rigging, extortion, and forming an organization for the purpose of committing crimes.
