A person who had a confirmed 25-year prison sentence for crimes such as looting, the escape of a convict and detainee, and drug use, was caught after revealing the name of the street he lived on during a live broadcast on social media, despite not being apprehended in operations conducted at his home.
R.I., who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for robbery and drug offenses in Diyarbakır, was caught after his location was identified through a live broadcast he made on TikTok. The police conducted an operation by examining social media posts.
WANTED WITH A 25-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE
A special team was established under the coordination of the Diyarbakır Police Department's Public Order Branch to capture wanted individuals. In comprehensive efforts, multiple operations were conducted at R.I.'s home to capture him, who has a total of 25 years of confirmed prison sentences for crimes such as robbery, escape of a convict, and drug use.
IDENTIFIED THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
After being unreachable, the posts he made on social media accounts were examined. The Public Order Branch teams narrowed down the area and streets based on R.I.'s posts on social media platforms, and they noticed an important detail in one of his TikTok posts.
STREET SIGN IN THE BROADCAST GAVE HIM AWAY
On October 11, special teams deployed to all the streets in the narrowed area were directed based on the street sign visible behind R.I. when he went live on TikTok. The Public Order Branch teams, who started to follow the individual from his location, caught R.I., who was still unaware of the situation even after the broadcast had ended, in the establishment he entered after the live stream. The individual was handed over to prison after his processing.
