REQUEST FOR IMPRISONMENT OF 4 TO 12 YEARS FOR REZAN EPÖZDEMİR
As part of two separate investigations initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was detained on August 10 and arrested on August 14 on charges of "facilitating bribery." The requested sentence for Epözdemir has been revealed. In the prepared indictment, a prison sentence of 4 to 12 years is requested for the crime of "facilitating bribery."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was detained as part of two separate investigations conducted for the crimes of "bribery," "aiding the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization," and "political and military espionage."
In the "bribery" investigation, which was subject to a confidentiality order, witness A.D. claimed that there were 3 different actions in which Epözdemir received bribes.
Witness A.D. alleged that in an incident in 2021, where there was no attorney-client relationship, Epözdemir and C.Ç. received a total bribe of 150,000 dollars, with 75,000 dollars paid before the evacuation process and the remaining 75,000 dollars paid after the evacuation. It was claimed that the 75,000 dollars was brought to Epözdemir by C.Ç. on July 7, 2021.
