A police officer committed suicide in Erciş.

In the Erciş district of Van, police officer İbrahim Köksal was found dead in his home. Investigations revealed that he had committed suicide and left a farewell note.

According to the information obtained, police officer İbrahim Köksal (37), who has been serving in the Erciş District Police Department's Riot Control unit for about 5 years, could not be reached for a long time, prompting his colleagues to go to his home located on Alkanat Street in Alkanat Neighborhood. With the help of a locksmith, his friends entered the house and found Köksal lying motionless in the bedroom. The initial examination revealed that Köksal had committed suicide by shooting himself once in the right temple.

The teams conducting the investigation at the scene found a farewell letter on the table. Köksal's service pistol was found on his chest. It was learned that Köksal, who joined the Police Organization in 2016, had two children aged 7 and 4, and had divorced his wife a month ago. The investigation launched regarding the incident is ongoing.
