More than 100 deputies and staff at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) sought medical attention due to complaints of diarrhea, vomiting, and weakness. Sema Silkin Ün, a deputy from the New Path Party representing Denizli, stated, "I have been vomiting continuously since this morning. I haven't eaten anything from outside; I haven't consumed any food outside the Assembly cafeteria." Meanwhile, officials from the TBMM Support Services Directorate reported that no issues were detected with the meals.

The recent cases in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) have raised concerns. In the last 2 days, more than 100 individuals, including members of parliament and assembly staff, have applied to the Assembly Hospital with complaints of diarrhea, vomiting, and severe fatigue.

According to the information obtained, the complaints first began yesterday and have continued to increase as of today. A significant number of staff and some members of parliament stationed at the assembly have been referred to the hospital with similar symptoms.

ÜN: "I'VE BEEN VOMITING SINCE MORNING"

Among those suspected of poisoning is Sema Silkin Ün, a member of parliament from the Yeniyol Party in Denizli, who stated, "I've been continuously vomiting since morning. I haven't eaten anything from outside; I haven't consumed food outside the Assembly cafeteria." However, Ün also noted that there is no definitive opinion that the poisoning is directly related to the food, saying, "Most of the friends with complaints have eaten different meals. I don't think it's from the food, but there are a significant number of complainants."

"THERE'S NO ISSUE WITH THE FOOD, IT COULD BE AN OUTBREAK"

According to a report by Gerçek Gündem, officials from the TBMM Support Services Department stated that samples taken from the Assembly cafeteria have been analyzed and no signs of poisoning have been found.

The officials shared the following information: "No issues have been detected in our meals. However, in our discussions with the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate, we were informed that there is a serious outbreak in the city."

IS THE PROBLEM RELATED TO WATER?

Some staff suggested that the complaints of poisoning could be water-related. It was learned that in recent weeks, bottled water has been replaced with filtered water in the Assembly tea houses as part of cost-saving measures.

HEALTH TEAMS ARE CONCERNED

So far, more than 100 individuals have applied to the Assembly Hospital with symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. While no detailed explanation regarding the source of the incident has been provided by assembly officials, health teams are also concerned about the increasing number of cases.
