The application, which is expected to come into effect on November 15, requiring all card payments to be made only through new generation payment recording devices, has been postponed to January 10, 2025, due to requests from the business world. Şekib Avdagiç, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), stated that the obligation to use new generation cash register POS devices should be postponed because it is not ready. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has postponed this obligation to 2025, taking into account the demands of the business community. ITO President Avdagiç announced via his social media account, "The requirement for bank POS devices to be phased out and for all card payments to be made with new generation cash register POS devices has been postponed to the new year." The postponement decision will relieve businesses, especially in the tourism sector, due to the incomplete infrastructure work of the banks. IT WAS ANNOUNCED TO BE COLLECTED ON NOVEMBER 15It had been announced that POS devices would be collected as of November 15, 2024. However, due to the fact that some banks' software infrastructure is not yet ready, new generation cash register POS devices will not be able to carry out foreign currency collections. This situation could mean extra exchange rate and commission differences for foreign customers.
