Premier League clubs broke the all-time record with £3.46 billion in spending during the summer transfer window of the 2026-2027 season. English teams spent £475 million on the final day of the transfer window alone, while the transfers of Enzo Fernandez, Morgan Rogers, and Elliot Anderson entered the top 10 most expensive transfers in football history.

The boundaries of the transfer market in the English Premier League were pushed once again. During the summer transfer window of the 2026-2027 season, the total amount clubs paid for transfer fees reached £3.46 billion, approximately €4 billion. Thus, the Premier League once again surpassed the transfer record it broke last year. English clubs had spent £3.14 billion in the summer window 12 months ago.

£475 MILLION ON THE FINAL DAY

The final day of the transfer window also saw a massive flow of money. Premier League clubs spent £475 million on the final day alone. Last year, £391 million was spent on the final day of the transfer window. This season, the figure rose by £84 million. One of the notable moves of the final day was Iliman Ndiaye's transfer from Everton to Manchester City for £60 million.

£125 MILLION FOR ENZO FERNANDEZ

Manchester City made the most expensive move of the summer transfer window. The English giant added Chelsea's Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez to its squad for £125 million. With the transfer equivalent to approximately €145 million, Enzo Fernandez matched the English transfer record. The record had previously been set when Liverpool transferred Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for £125 million.

COST OF THE TOP 3 TRANSFERS: £358 MILLION

Morgan Rogers followed Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea paid £117 million for the 23-year-old English midfielder from Aston Villa. Manchester City added Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest to its squad for £116 million. Thus, the total transfer fee for just these three players reached £358 million.

LIVERPOOL PAID £107 MILLION FOR BARCOLA
