The case related to the system known to the public as "Çiftlik Bank," which led to the victimization of many people with promises of income, has revealed the requested sentences for the defendants. In the case where 20 defendants, including Mehmet Aydın, known by the nickname "Tosuncuk," and his brother Fatih Aydın, are being tried, the prosecutor presented the indictment. In the indictment, it was requested that Mehmet Aydın be sentenced to a total of 88,302 years in prison. WHAT HAPPENED?The founder of the system, Mehmet Aydın, who had been a fugitive for more than two years, was deported by Brazil at Turkey's request. Aydın, known as "Tosuncuk," was detained at Istanbul Airport on July 3, 2021, and was arrested on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "fraud by using information systems, banks, or credit institutions as tools," and "fraud by merchants or company executives and cooperative managers," based on the complaints of 102 victims. Fatih Aydın, who was wanted as a fugitive for "violating the Banking Law," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "money laundering of assets derived from crime," "fraud by using information systems, banks, or credit institutions as tools," and "fraud by merchants or company executives and cooperative managers" in the investigation related to the "Çiftlik Bank" system, was captured in Uruguay in July 2021. A request for his extradition was made by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the defendant, who was brought to Turkey on November 2, 2021, was arrested by the court.
