Göle district of Ardahan recorded the coldest temperature in Turkey at minus 39.7 degrees Celsius at night. The windows of houses, cars, and workplaces froze, and the roads turned into ice rinks.
According to the data on the website of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the lowest temperature of the day was measured in Göle, followed by Sivas's Altınyayla district at minus 33.8 degrees, and Göle's Yavuzlar village at minus 33.2 degrees.
THE PONDS AND STREAMS FROZE
In Ardahan, intense icing and frost occurred due to freezing cold. The windows of houses, cars, and workplaces were frozen, and the roads turned into ice rinks. Citizens who had to go outside faced difficulties. The surfaces of ponds and streams in the city froze.
ERZURUM
In Erzurum, where the nighttime temperature dropped to minus 23 degrees, freezing cold is negatively affecting life. After the recent heavy snowfall, long icicles formed on the roofs, and the windows were frosted. The highway, metropolitan municipality, and district municipality teams are conducting snow removal operations in their responsibility areas.
KARS
The cold weather also negatively affected life in Kars. In the city where the nighttime temperature dropped to minus 28 degrees, icicles formed on building roofs, and plants and trees were frosted.
In the Sarıkamış district, cold weather had a significant impact. Due to the cold, the windows and door locks of houses, cars, and workplaces froze, and trees and plants were covered in frost. In the district where long icicles formed on building roofs, citizens wrapped blankets around their vehicles due to the cold. In Sarıkamış, where the outdoor fountains froze, some shopkeepers tried to melt the ice on the windows with electric heaters.
One of the shopkeepers, Serhat Gökmen, stated that extreme cold has been experienced, saying, "It has been quite cold for the last two or three days. It reminds me of the old winters. We are currently in the month of January, may God help us."

In Ağrı, freezing cold continues to have an effect. In the city where the streets and avenues are covered with snow, citizens covered their vehicles with blankets and tarpaulins.
The surface of the Murat River, which flows through the city center, also froze due to the cold. In Taşlıçay district, rivers and streams froze as well.
