After the martyrdom of 3 of our police officers in the clash with ISIS terrorists in Yalova, operations have been accelerated across Turkey, while England and France have also carried out a notable joint operation in Syria. In the operation aimed at preventing the resurgence of the terrorist organization ISIS, an underground facility located in the city of Palmyra was successfully struck.

England and France announced that they have carried out joint airstrikes against the terrorist organization ISIS in Syria.

In a written statement from the UK Ministry of Defence, it was reported that Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft conducted attacks against ISIS in a joint operation with France.

OBJECTIVE: TO PREVENT THE RESURGENCE OF ISIS

The statement noted that RAF aircraft continue to conduct patrol flights over Syria to prevent the resurgence of the terrorist organization ISIS, which suffered a military defeat in the town of Baghuz, Syria, in March 2019.

UNDERGROUND FACILITY IDENTIFIED

The statement indicated that careful intelligence analysis pointed to the identification of an underground facility in the mountains a few miles north of the ancient city of Palmyra, which was likely occupied by ISIS for the storage of weapons and explosives. It was noted that there were no civilian settlements in the vicinity of the facility.

"TARGETS HIT SUCCESSFULLY"

The statement reported that RAF aircraft, supported by a Voyager refueling tanker, conducted a joint attack on the underground facility with French aircraft. It was stated that the aircraft used Paveway IV guided bombs to target a series of access tunnels leading to the facility, and that a detailed assessment is still ongoing, with initial indications showing that the target was hit successfully. The statement also mentioned that there were no indications of any risk to civilians from the attack and that all aircraft returned safely.

In the statement, UK Defence Secretary John Healey was quoted as saying, "This action demonstrates the UK's leadership and our determination to prevent the resurgence of ISIS and their dangerous and violent ideologies in the Middle East by standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies."
