After the PKK's decision to lay down arms and disband, a survey conducted by ASAL Research in 26 provinces revealed that 49.8% of participants found the government's policy successful. While 22.1% considered it partially successful, 19.7% deemed it unsuccessful. Meanwhile, 8.4% did not express an opinion.
A historic development has occurred in the fight against terrorism that has been ongoing for years in Turkey. The terrorist organization PKK announced its decision to dissolve itself and lay down arms. Following this important step, the public's perception of the process has become a matter of curiosity, and ASAL Research Company conducted a striking survey to gauge the public's opinion.
THE RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED IN 26 PROVINCES
In the public opinion poll conducted by ASAL Research between May 10-14 in 26 provinces, citizens were asked, "How successful do you find the government's policy regarding the PKK's decision to lay down arms?"
THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY ARE AS FOLLOWS;
- Those who find it successful: %49.8
- Those who find it somewhat successful: %22.1
- Those who find it unsuccessful: %19.7
- No opinion/no response: %8.4
HALF OF THE SOCIETY FINDS IT "SUCCESSFUL"
According to the results, approximately half of the society evaluates the process followed by the government as "successful." Together with those who find it somewhat successful, this rate exceeds 70%, while the proportion of those who find it unsuccessful remains below 20%.
