In a house in Silivri, Istanbul, carbon monoxide gas leaking from a stove caused the poisoning of four people from the same family. In the incident, emergency service worker Altay Özen lost his life.
In the Silivri district of Istanbul, carbon monoxide gas leaking from a stove poisoned four members of the same family, and 112 personnel Altay Özen lost his life.
In the Danamandıra neighborhood of Silivri district, Altay Özen (29), his wife İlayda Özen (23), mother Behiye Özen (56), and 1-year-old Cemre Özen were exposed to carbon monoxide (CO) gas leaking from the stove.
THEY WERE TRANSFERRED TO BAŞAKŞEHİR
According to the initial examination by İGDAŞ teams and hospital findings, family members who were determined to have been exposed to high levels of CO gas were quickly handed over to health teams and transferred by ambulances to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital. The four individuals were admitted to the intensive care unit here.
SILIVRI WAS IN MOURNING
112 Emergency Service worker Altay Özen, who was treated in intensive care, could not be saved despite all the interventions by doctors. The death of the young healthcare worker saddened his colleagues, loved ones, and the people of the district.
The unfortunate young man was bid farewell on his final journey with prayers after the funeral prayer held in Danamandıra neighborhood. Neighborhood residents, colleagues, and relatives expressed their sorrow with the words, "We lost a dedicated, hardworking, and good person."
While the investigation into the incident continues, teams are still conducting technical examinations related to the stove and installation in the house.
