It was determined that hours before the family was poisoned, a room on the ground floor of the hotel was treated to combat bedbugs. It is being considered that the substance containing 'aluminum phosphide' in the used pesticide may have reached the family's room through the ventilation in the bathroom and poisoned those inside.

The drug, which is most commonly used in agriculture and residences under the name 'pesticide', is a very potent poison, and it was expressed that excessive inhalation could easily lead to death. It was determined that the employee of the pest control company among the suspects had no certification regarding this matter.

On the other hand, in a similar incident that occurred two years ago in Ankara, two people died in an apartment where the same substance was used for pest control, and 13 others were affected. Türkan and Elip Sude Sabancılar, who were taken to the hospital at that time, suspected of food poisoning, were initially discharged, but after their conditions worsened, they passed away in the hospital where they were readmitted.
