The Böcek family, who were staying at a hotel in Fatih, were taken to the hospital after falling ill. In the investigation regarding the incident that resulted in the deaths of mother Çiğdem Böcek and her two children, 4 of the 11 people detained were referred to the courthouse after completing their procedures at the police station.
While the prosecution interrogation of Lokumcu F.T., midyeci Y.D., kokoreççi E.E., and café employee F.M.O. continues, it was learned that the interrogations of the other 7 suspects are ongoing at the Public Order Branch and the Homicide Bureau. It was stated that among those still in custody are the hotel owner, employees, the owner of the pest control company, his son and employee, as well as the owner of the bakery from which the family bought pastries.
NEW DETAILS EMERGED
In the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau, new details related to the incident have emerged. It was determined that a room on the ground floor of the hotel was treated for bedbugs hours before the family was poisoned. It is being considered that the substance containing 'aluminum phosphide' in the pesticide used may have reached the family's room through the ventilation in the bathroom and poisoned those inside.
IT WAS STATED THAT THERE IS NO ANTIDOTE
It was stated that the substance 'aluminum phosphide', which is especially used in the treatment of bedbugs and cockroaches, has no antidote. The substance, which is commonly used in agriculture and residential areas under the name 'pesticide', is a very potent poison that can easily lead to death if excessively inhaled. It was determined that the pest control company employee among the suspects had no certification regarding this matter.
THE FATHER'S TREATMENT WAS ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO THIS POSSIBILITY
On the other hand, it was learned that the condition of Father Servet Böcek, who is being treated in the hospital, remains serious. It was reported that Servet Böcek, who was intubated with his consciousness closed, had his treatment adjusted in response to the possibility of 'aluminum phosphide' poisoning.
EXAMINATIONS CONTINUE AT THE FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTE
In the examinations conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was stated that traces of 'aluminum phosphide' are being searched in the blood of the deceased mother and her two children, and the investigation is being conducted from multiple angles.
2 PEOPLE DIED IN A SIMILAR INCIDENT IN ANKARA
Additionally, in a similar incident that occurred in Ankara 2 years ago, 2 people died and 13 others were affected in an apartment where the same substance was used for pest control. At that time, Türkan and Elip Sude Sabancılar, who were taken to the hospital under the suspicion of food poisoning, were initially discharged, but after their conditions worsened, they lost their lives in the hospital where they were readmitted.
