At the General Assembly of the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), the proposal to continue the monthly water price increases until 2026 was accepted in response to the "no" votes from the members of the People's Alliance.
The fourth session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council's November meetings was held at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Council, Gökhan Gümüşdağ.
IN ISTANBUL, WATER PRICES WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE EVERY MONTH
During the meeting, the proposal regarding the tariff for water sales and the cost of wastewater removal was discussed at the İSKİ General Assembly. The proposal requested that the practice of increasing water prices in Istanbul every month, based on the result of dividing the sum of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) by two, as decided in the İBB Council meeting on November 20, 2024, continue until a new decision is made starting from January 1, 2026.
In the vote that followed, the proposal to continue the practice was accepted by a majority vote against the "no" votes of the members of the People's Alliance.
UP TO 94.5% INCREASE IN VARIOUS ITEMS OF İSKİ
Additionally, the proposal for "İSKİ 2026 Service Fee Tariffs" was discussed at the General Assembly. The proposal included an increase in the water connection and disconnection fee from 379 lira to 507 lira with a 34% increase, the vacuum truck service fee from 929 lira to 1807 lira with a 94.5% increase, the building project review fee from 881 lira to 1019 lira with a 15.66% increase, the network project review and approval fee from 8,299 lira to 9,664 lira with a 16.44% increase, and the network survey project review and approval fee from 16,968 lira to 19,850 lira with a 17% increase.
The proposal for the increase in İSKİ's services was accepted. The new increased tariff will be implemented starting from January 1, 2026.
