On May 28, a terrible incident occurred in the garden of Sinan Suverir Imam Hatip Middle School, located in the Tömük neighborhood of Erdemli district in Mersin. During this time, Başar, who did not notice the volleyball net in the garden, tripped and fell onto the concrete floor.
TRIPPED ON THE VOLLEYBALL NET, SUFFERED A BRAIN HEMORRHAGE
After the administrators informed the family, the father learned that the child was taken by vehicle to the district state hospital and then to the city hospital. Başar, who spent 13 days in the hospital, including 5 days in intensive care, was reported to have experienced capillary brain hemorrhage, skull trauma, and air entering the brain. It was stated that Başar, who was discharged from the hospital and sent home, is expected to have the air that entered the brain removed with 3 months of treatment.
THE FAMILY COMPLAINED TO THE ADMINISTRATORS
The family claimed that they were not provided with security camera footage by the school, citing the lack of images. However, the moment of the incident was captured second by second by a security camera belonging to another location that overlooks the school's garden. After watching the footage, the family complained to the administrators due to the net being improperly and continuously set up in the garden, as well as the claim that their child was not taken to the hospital by ambulance after the incident.
ALLEGATION THAT THE PRINCIPAL STOPPED AT A MARKET ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL
The father, Nurettin, and mother, Pınar Bayar, who make a living by working with filigree art at home, demanded that those responsible be punished. Mother Bayar stated that no ambulance was called after her son fell and that her spouse was contacted. She explained that when they took him to the district state hospital, they were told that he was in critical condition and was sent to the city hospital. Bayar claimed that the school principal used his own vehicle to take him to the hospital but stopped on the way to go to a market, where he bought water and a bag. They demanded that those responsible be punished. Additionally, Nurettin and Pınar Bayar argued that the volleyball net was continuously set up and was in a location contrary to regulations.
The family, who are taking care of their child's treatment at home, expressed that they have complained to the gendarmerie about the school administrators and those who were negligent.
