A woman who attempted suicide by jumping into the turbulent waters of the Black Sea in Samsun was rescued by a police officer who jumped into the sea.

At around 11:15 AM, an incident occurred at the Public Pier on Adnan Menderes Boulevard in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Atakum district, Samsun; a woman named S.P. (42) jumped into the sea from the pier. Citizens who noticed the woman jumping into the water reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Sea police, ambulances, Atakum District Police Department, and Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the scene.

While the citizens who witnessed the incident experienced great panic, police officer Turgay Yapıcı, who was on duty at the Atakum District Police Department's Official Teams, jumped into the sea without hesitation upon seeing S.P. quickly submerged in the water. The woman rescued by the police officer was transported to the hospital by ambulance while unconscious. The police officer's immediate action in jumping into the water was met with appreciation, and an investigation was initiated regarding the incident.
