The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that a detention order was issued for 3 suspects and a judicial control decision for 1 suspect as part of the investigation into the harassment allegations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The number of detainees in the investigation has risen to 4.
The investigation into the harassment allegations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is ongoing. A student named D.K., who is interning at TBMM during the 2024-2025 academic year, applied to the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Child Branch on December 4.
SUSPECT ARRESTED
The student claimed that H.İ.G., who works at the Assembly cafeteria, sexually harassed her. As part of the initiated investigation, D.K. gave her statement at the Child Monitoring Center. The suspect H.İ.G. was detained on December 10 and was arrested by the Ankara 5th Criminal Court of Peace for the crime of 'sexual harassment against a child' the day before yesterday.
4 MORE PEOPLE DETAINED
As the investigation deepened with the examination of the administrative investigation documents sent by the TBMM General Secretariat, the statements of three other victims, who were also found to be victims of similar incidents in D.K.'s statement and the administrative investigation documents, were taken at the Child Monitoring Center. Four other suspects, who are also accused of sexually harassing the victims, were detained yesterday.
DECISION MADE
According to a statement from the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; after their procedures at the police, the suspects R.Ç. was placed under judicial control, while D.U., R.S., and İ.B. were issued arrest warrants for the crime of 'sexual harassment.' The investigation related to the incident is ongoing.
