A terrible parasailing accident occurred in the city of Budva, Montenegro. Tijana Radonjic, a 19-year-old Serbian, panicked and unbuckled her safety harness while parasailing during her vacation, falling into the Adriatic Sea from a height of over 50 meters and losing her life.
The incident, which took place last Wednesday, was captured on security cameras. The footage shows Tijana suddenly panicking while flying in the air with the parachute, trying to tear off her life jacket and struggling to unbuckle her safety harness. After managing to unbuckle her waist belt, she lost her balance while trying to escape from the parachute and fell into the sea.
Witnesses nearby during the incident reported that Tijana was shouting, "Get me down!" and was in a state of panic. An employee of the parasailing company had previously approached Tijana on the beach and offered her a free flight. The young girl accepted the offer, received the necessary training, and took off.
The company owner, Mirko Krdzic, made a statement regarding the incident, saying, "We are all in shock; we did not fully understand what happened. The girl was not afraid of flying; she had received training. All our equipment is being checked, and we are waiting for the autopsy results."
Among the issues being investigated by the authorities are why Tijana panicked, whether there was any malfunction in the equipment, whether safety procedures were properly followed, and whether the training was sufficient. Experts indicate that such accidents often occur due to panic attacks or fear of heights.
Tijana's lifeless body was retrieved from the sea and handed over to her family. The company's parasailing activities have been suspended until the investigation is completed. Although parasailing is generally considered a safe sport, this incident has highlighted the need for a review of safety measures in the industry.
