The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced that the Turkey Disaster Response Plan has been activated following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that "the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) was activated at 1:15 PM immediately after the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul."
The 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul caused great panic in the city. Following the earthquake, more than 70 aftershocks occurred, the largest of which was 5.9 in magnitude.
155 INJURED
It was reported that 155 people were injured in Istanbul and surrounding provinces due to the earthquake; however, it was also stated that there were no serious injuries and that the condition of the injured was good.
AFAD: TURKEY DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN ACTIVATED
Meanwhile, in a post on AFAD's social media account, it was stated that "the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP) was activated at 1:15 PM immediately after the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 12:49 PM in the Sea of Marmara, off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul."
The statement also included the following: "Representatives of all disaster groups have gathered at the AFAD Headquarters Disaster and Emergency Center under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Interior Münir Karaloğlu. Developments are being monitored in real-time."
