A baby boy born in Diyarbakır in 2007 was claimed to have been mixed up with another baby at the hospital. As the case was taken to court, DNA tests revealed that there was no biological connection between the baby and his parents. The baby's family filed a criminal complaint against those responsible.

The male baby named Y.A., who was born in 2007 in Diyarbakır, was claimed to have been mixed up with another baby in the hospital after birth, and the case was taken to court. It was revealed through DNA tests that Y.A. had no biological connection with his parents, and his family filed a criminal complaint against those responsible.

STAYED IN INCUBATOR FOR 2 MONTHS AFTER BIRTH

The incident occurred on March 23, 2007, at the Diyarbakır Women's and Children's Hospital. The baby of the couple Z.A. and M.A. was born prematurely. The male baby, who weighed 650 grams and was named Y.A. by the family, was placed in the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit. The couple left the hospital with the baby given to them 2 months later.

DNA TEST REVEALED THEY DID NOT HAVE A CHILD

However, years later, blood tests revealed that Y.A.'s blood type did not match that of the family members. Following this, the family had a DNA test conducted at a private clinic. The test results showed that there was no biological connection between baby Y.A. and father Z.A. and mother M.A. The official DNA test conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institution upon the family's application also yielded the same result. The report confirmed that Y.A.'s mother and father were not M.A. and Z.A.

REQUEST FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF BIOLOGICAL FAMILY

The family applied to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for an investigation into the negligence and carelessness that occurred in the hospital. In the criminal complaint prepared by the family's lawyer, it was requested to identify the children of families who gave birth at the hospital during that time and reported stillbirths, as well as to find Y.A.'s biological family. Additionally, it was requested to initiate a public lawsuit to identify and punish those responsible for causing the mix-up, whether negligently or intentionally.
