In the context of a bribery investigation conducted by the Manavgat Municipality, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter, who is accused of receiving a bribe of 110,000 euros in a baklava box, admitted in his defense that he accepted the money. Tüter, who claimed that the money was between two businesspeople, that he did not receive it on behalf of the municipality, and that it was a commission, has been arrested.

On July 4th, as part of the "Bribery" investigation targeting the Manavgat Municipality in Antalya, 25 suspects, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara, who have been in custody at the Antalya Police Department for 4 days, were brought to the Manavgat Courthouse this morning by bus.

DEPUTY MAYOR ARRESTED

While the procedures for the other suspects continue, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter, who was caught red-handed with 110,000 euros in a baklava box during the bribery incident, was arrested by the on-duty judge to whom he was referred.

Among the suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara was referred to the on-duty court with a request for arrest.

FIRST STATEMENT

Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter admitted to receiving 110,000 euros, claiming that the money was between two businessmen and that he did not receive it on behalf of the municipality, asserting it was a commission. Following Tüter's statement, the number of detention orders increased to 43. It was recorded that 41 of them are in custody, while 2 are fugitives.

Among the 43 suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued are Deputy Mayors Sıla Ceyhan Berkaya and Gülsüm Özer, Mayor Kara's nephew and Private Secretary B.Ş., Director of Urban Planning and Zoning M.A., Building Control Director H.K., and Advisor to the Mayor M.T.

6 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Among the suspects whose procedures were completed at the Provincial Police Department, Manavgat Municipality Council Member Mehmet Tosak, businessmen Kemal Taş, Şükrü İlgın, Mehmet Ali Fansa, Mesut Kara, and İlker Günay were brought to the Manavgat Courthouse yesterday. The 6 suspects were arrested by the 1st Criminal Court of Peace to which they were referred after their statements.
