As part of the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmet Şahin, the Deputy Mayor of Büyükçekmece, and his driver Sonkan Turan were arrested by the court to which they were brought.

THE CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

The corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), the investigation into the criminal organization allegedly led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, and the investigation initiated concerning the Büyükçekmece Municipality is ongoing.

In this context, after their procedures at the police station, the prosecution procedures of three suspects taken to the Istanbul Courthouse have been completed.

DEPUTY MAYOR AND HIS DRIVER ARRESTED

The prosecution referred Deputy Mayor of Büyükçekmece, Ahmet Şahin, to the peace court for arrest on charges of "being a member of an organization established for committing crimes" and "receiving bribes," while his driver, Sonkan Turan, was referred for arrest on the charge of "receiving bribes." The prosecution requested judicial control measures for lawyer Onur Büyükhatipoğlu. Şahin and Turan were arrested by the court they were brought before.

The referral letter of Deputy Mayor of Büyükçekmece, Ahmet Şahin, has emerged. In the referral letter prepared to be sent to the Istanbul Duty Peace Court, it was stated that the suspect Ahmet Şahin acted under the direction of Fatih Keleş, who holds a managerial position in the criminal organization established for profit by Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In the referral letter, it was noted that the suspect Ali Nuhoğlu, who was taken into custody under the effective remorse provision, stated that he was forced by Fatih Keleş to give money to Ahmet Şahin through his employee Oğuz Kaan Demircioğlu at different times.

The referral letter indicated that Ahmet Şahin claimed not to know Oğuz Kaan Demircioğlu, but it was revealed through HTS analysis that they had common base stations. The referral letter stated that it was understood that Şahin received bribes from businessmen on behalf of the Ekrem İmamoğlu criminal organization. It was also stated in the referral letter that Sonkan Turan, who is noted to be Ahmet Şahin's driver, was confirmed to be present with suspect Ahmet Şahin and suspect Oğuz Kaan Demircioğlu.
