CEASEFIRE NEGOTIATIONS IN GAZA
U.S. President Trump had announced that Israel accepted the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Trump noted that Qatar and Egypt, which are mediating the ceasefire talks, would present Hamas with a "final offer."
Hamas had conveyed its "positive response" to the proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Israel in Gaza to the mediators and announced that it was ready for negotiations to implement the ceasefire. The Tel Aviv administration argued that the changes made by Hamas to the Qatari proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza were unacceptable; however, the Israeli delegation had traveled to Doha, the capital of Qatar, for negotiations.
