An attack at a supermarket in the city of Bergamo, Italy, has shaken the national agenda. A homeless suspect, reported to be an Israeli-Romanian citizen, attempted to forcibly abduct a one-year-old girl who was preparing to leave the market with her family. In the incident captured by security cameras, the young child was seriously injured during the struggle.
HE FOUGHT TO NOT LET GO OF HIS DAUGHTER
The footage shows the attacker, wearing a black hooded top and green pants, suddenly directing himself towards the baby as they passed through the automatic doors and trying to pull the child away from her family's hands. The mother resisted, fighting with the attacker to not let go of her daughter, while the father intervened by leaving the shopping cart. Nearby customers and security personnel quickly became involved in the incident.
THE LITTLE GIRL WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED
It was reported that during the struggle, the attacker pulled the child by her arms and legs, resulting in serious injuries to the little girl. Police teams called to the scene detained the suspect. Upon examination, it was determined that the one-year-old child had a broken femur. Health teams reported that the injury was caused by severe pulling and trauma due to the struggle.
HE WAS ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON
The prosecutor's office filed charges against the suspect for attempting to abduct a child under the age of 14 and for aggravated assault. It was announced that the arrested suspect is in prison and that the investigation is ongoing based on security camera footage and witness statements.
